Secret Genius is an exciting covers band with a bit of edge and attitude. Formed in 2007, the band brings together some great musicians to play an energetic set of covers ranging from classic rock and pop through to the current charts.
I play guitar in the band and created the website to help promote our gigs and to publicise the band’s activities to reach a wider audience and to help to get our name better known. To help with this, there is a link to the site on our Lemonrock profile page.
The site uses the Textpattern content management system and includes embedded Google Maps to show the locations of the group’s gigs, making finding the venues easier for our fans. The next gig is highlighted on the gig listing page and is automatically removed by Textpattern from the list after it has occurred. A review for the gig can then easily be added to the gig article, which is then moved to the gig archive section and gets added to the history of our gigs.
The site was updated to feature new photographs of the band throughout the site including a new photos section featuring a lightbox-style photo gallery.
Greater emphasis was placed on the band’s social media channels too, with prominent links to their Facebook, Twitter, Reverbnation and Lemonrock sites.
