how I work

I will work closely with you to make sure that the printed materials I design for you meet your requirements and goals. I will guide you through the project from start to finish and offer advice and help throughout the process. If necessary, I can source images and artworks for use in your project and ensure that you keep on the right side of copyright and licensing issues.

For printed items, I will liaise with printers and organise quotes for you so that you can be sure that you are getting good value for money. I will also ensure that the printer is supplied with properly specified files to make sure that there are no problems and that the job is completed smoothly and efficiently.

freelance graphic design

I am also available to work on a freelance basis as a graphic designer or web designer if you need someone to cover extra capacity. I have been using Macs since 1987 and in that time have used most of the professional graphics software, many since their earliest versions, including: Quark XPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. For web development, I normally hand code using Coda or a similar text editor such as skEdit, TextWrangler or TextMate.

I regularly prepare press-ready PDFs for print, often for foreign language editions or for jobs involving special finishes such as glitter, foil or spot varnish. I have extensive experience of working on everything from consumer and business magazines to both illustrated and educational books for some of the top names in publishing.
